Coincidence. (feat. Wednesday)

And she returned to this city
where she was once abandoned by the love of her life.
Same sunset, different faces,
she ordered another fruit tea
at the same coffee shop
where they once savoured their love together.

"How’s life?" He asked,
like a great neighbour,
while she still remembered the way
he stormed out of her garden,
taking away the sunlight
that once her flowers bloom under.

She thought she had met the Mr. Right,
but he wanted his pride.
The silent fights
As they down for the forbidden ride
longing gazes and teary sights
turned into the ripped pages of their life.

"Never been better," she said,
like a great neighbour
saying goodbye to passersby,
the only one whose path crossed hers once,
back when they could taste the summer
he ordered for her.

......

"Long time no see,"

I looked up. Unfamiliar lines around the eyes and a somewhat familiar silhouette awakened a past long forgotten. I faintly remembered the folded corners of a diary, but I couldn't recall which corner of the room I had tossed that diary into.

Those sharp words on the paper, once nailed onto the bed, used to scream and howl at the edge of dreams, yanking me back into countless silent nights. All the laughter, all the tears, faded away like feathers in the wind with those four simple words. My thoughts returned to this cafe; hushed conversations of people, the gentle sunlight streaming into the corner, and the fruit tea swirling with tendrils of smoke.

"How have you been? I heard you went abroad."

Perhaps the currents have their own plans. A brief encounter, and then, at the helpless crossroads, two people were swept toward different oceans. In the ebb and flow of time, we were nothing more than small, inconspicuous fish.

Fortunately, fate is right. All the unforgettable moments will eventually be covered by the sands of time, leaving only faint footprints to remind you of the path you once walked.

I smiled from the depths of my heart. My eyes caught a glimpse of a child hiding behind the person I was talking to, clutching his father's pants with a touch of awkwardness, his features identical to his father's.

"Oh, yes. Just came back for a move. How about you?"
