Silhouette Eau de Toilette

A silhouette is what the light leaves behind: the shape of someone, exact at every edge, with the person taken out of it. It opens cold, and faintly medicinal: peppermint and eucalyptus. Rosemary follows, green and dry, the herb people have laid on graves since there were graves, and which also happens to be the plant on a windowsill, kept alive by clumsy hands because it is the only thing left to keep. One brief brightness of bergamot, thin as a held dusk. Then fir. Old bark, resinous, faintly warm. The single warm thing in the whole composition, at the very bottom, lasting longest.
